Storm of the Millenium (well maybe not that big)
At least when we woke up this morning it felt like the storm of the millenium. The first thing I noticed was five inches of fresh snow built up on my tent step. My next view almost brought tears to my eyes. Our precious love dome, aka Mountain Hardware Space Station, had completely collapsed under the weight of the snow. What used to be a dome now resembled a doughnut with a snow center. A jumbled mess of broken poles had slashed the tent walls allowing tons of snow to fall in. What was once a communications center with almost one-half million in camera and communications gear was now barely being held up by the five roll-a-tables (we now call the roll-a-saviors).
A quick glance around the rest of base camp revealed the two other space stations were still standing. Most likely the other camps had someone cleaning the built up snow off the tents, while our team, on the other hand slept soundly through the snowstorm.
Two rolls of duct tape, four hours later, and one massive snowball fight our love dome was reconstructed into the duct tape dome. Life goes on at base camp.
