The entire team arrived and established base camp on April 6, 2001. All are healthy and happy. As of this writing, both the base camp and camp #1 are established and ready for occupancy.
On April 11, 2001, the team will move from base camp to camp #1. If all goes well, they will then establish and move to camp #2 on April 13, 2001.
The electronic communication infrastructure which will be used to transmit
e-mail to the climbers and to receive updates from the climbers requires
some minor changes now that the team is in base camp. Consequently, this
update was provided courtesy of a voice telephone call received from the
team on the morning of April 9, 2001, Pacific Daylight Time. Also, there
will be a delay in transmitting waiting e-mail to the team from their U.S.
based electronic mailboxes. However, the
team is receiving email, and is eager to hear from you.
